Why You Sabotage Your Goals - And How to Fix It
Ever find yourself dreaming big, only to watch your efforts unravel faster than your favorite TV show’s plot twist?
“I'm going to finally lose 25 lbs. this year.”
“I'm going to stop drinking alcohol this year.”
You’ve got your reasons locked and loaded:
Better sleep
More energy
Longevity
Being present with your kids
But despite knowing your why, something sneaky happens. You're making progress—hitting the gym, skipping the girl scout cookies, and saying no to wine. Then, bam! Life gets stressful, and you throw it all away like yesterday's leftovers. Suddenly, you're binging on potato chips and wondering, what just happened? Why can't I stay consistent for more than a few weeks? Then another year passes and you look back and realize you're in the same boat as the previous year:
No weight loss
Same body and disappointment in yourself
Less energy than ever before
Hate having photos taken
Zero control over food
Sound familiar?
Every January, you start strong. And then? You fall off. Again.
Why do we sabotage all the good stuff we've worked so hard for? You need to fix the real problem.
"I know how to lose weight, I've done it before". If that's true, then wouldn't you have done it by now?
If "eating right and exercising" were enough, everyone would be ripped.
Knowing what to do isn't the problem - doing is.
If sticking with it were easy, you wouldn't be reading this right now.
Here’s the real formula for weight loss:
Eat well.
Exercise.
Do #1 and #2 consistently.
That last part? That’s where people fail.
So why is consistency so hard?
1) The plan you’re following isn’t sustainable.
Fad diets don’t work. You can only stay on a no alcohol, no sugar, no-carb diet for so long before you crack.
Before you start any plan, ask yourself: Can I see myself eating like this in five years? If not, don’t bother.
You can’t stick to a plan that isn’t sustainable. Yet people keep trying extreme diets that are doomed from the start.
This is why my program is not a strict, joyless regimen. You’ll learn how to eat foods you love and still lose weight. The goal isn’t just to be fit—it’s to be fit and happy.
Same with movement. You don’t need to spend hours in the gym. Weight loss is 80% diet, and I’ll show you exactly how to make it work for life. The key is to start small.
🚨 If your diet or workout plan isn’t sustainable, you’re setting yourself up to fail.
2) You never change your relationship with food.
Here’s the real issue: Most people don’t fix why they overeat.
They jump from one restrictive diet to the next, relying on willpower—until it runs out.
If you don’t change the way you think about food, you’ll keep repeating the cycle. You’ll keep gaining weight back. You have to learn the right mindset, habits and behaviors necessary to keep it off.
This is why I help my clients rewire their mindset around food. It’s not just about what you eat which is what most diets / programs focus on—it’s about why you eat. Once you fix that, everything else falls into place.
And the best part? It gets easier over time, not harder. That’s why my clients actually stick to their plan and keep the weight off for good.
🚨 If you don’t change your relationship with food, you’ll always struggle with weight loss.
3) You have no real accountability.
Let’s be honest—when you only answer to yourself, it’s too easy to break promises. No one knows if you skip a workout or binge on junk food, so you let yourself off the hook.
That’s why accountability is the game-changer.
This is where my program is different. You don’t just get a plan—you get daily support, guidance, and a coach who makes sure you actually follow through.
When you fall off track (because life happens), you won’t be left figuring it out alone. Whether it’s a mental block (like fear of succeeding - what?) or a tactical challenge (like navigating travel or social events), coaching can help you plan for and overcome it.
Think about it this way:
Imagine a college class where the professor dumps a massive textbook on your desk and says, “Study for six months. At the end, you’ll have a test. Good luck.”
How many people do you think would pass? Almost none.
Now imagine the professor actually guides and supports—daily classes, office hours, answers questions, and course corrects. Success rate? Much higher.
This is why people on most programs don't lost the weight and end up feeling even more like a failure.
New Norm provides:
Daily support
A sustainable plan
Expert coaching advice
Support when you fall of track (and you will)
Attainable goals
Science based information
Accountability
🚨 If you don’t have real accountability, it’s too easy to quit.
So, there you have it: The three reasons why you can’t stay consistent.
No matter what you do this year, keep these in mind. If you don’t fix them, nothing will change.
Would I love for you to join New Norm? Of course. I know it works.
The truth is, most people just make excuses, and hope things will magically get better. Year after year, nothing changes.
Don't be the person that stays stuck, never changing, but always wishing they had.
This can be the year you finally break the cycle. You’ll lose the weight, get the body you want, and—more importantly—learn the skills to keep it off for life.
What are you waiting for? Let’s make it happen.
Let me help you become the person you really want to be.
P.S. I get it. You’ve tried before. You’ve lost trust in programs—and maybe even in yourself. But I know this works. Do you?
